Optimal safety with the right motorcycle rear light
The motorcycle rear light is an important component of its signal system. As with every vehicle, a bike must ensure that it is seen by the other road users. Motorcyclists are always particularly in focus on this point. A shapely motorcycle rear light not only ensures the necessary security, There is also a special personal note for the whole bike.
How big must the reflector be on the motorcycle?
The size and shape of a motorcycle rear light are not legally fixed. It is important that it sufficiently light is and itself reliably concerns when the driving light is switched on. Thanks to the modern, brightly glowing LED lamps, it is possible to produce particularly small and subtle rear lights. It is also not absolutely necessary to combine back and brake lights in a lamp. Separate spotlights can be installed for both functions. For practical reasons, however, many bikers prefer the combined solution. However, it is important that there is an ABE for the lamp used. The motorcycle lighting available in our program all have a type approval with a registered test number. So there is no problems with the HU.
How many taillights can a motorcycle have?
A motorcycle must at least one and may have a maximum of two taillights. These have to lie together. For motorcycles with side cars, it needs a separate rear light. In the event of teams from 1988, they must also be equipped with a brake light.
In addition to the back and brake light, there is also the possibility to equip the motorcycle with boundary lights. These are useful for broad motorcycles. These spotlights mostly integrated into the side cases must shine orange. In addition, the license plate must also be illuminated. In many series motorcycles, the license plate lighting is done via a small clear glass window due to the normal rear light. However, if the series rear light is to be replaced by an LED rear light, you have to retrofit the license plate lighting. As an alternative to the illuminated license plate, there are also semi -transparent license plates with backlight. These are particularly striking and make a major contribution to traffic safety.
Where does the motorcycle have to be mounted on it?
The motorcycle rear light must be installed in the following position:
-Vehicle center
- At the very far back
- lower edge at least at a height of 350 millimeters
- At most at a height of 900 millimeters.
In addition, it must not be covered by additions such as additional luggage racks, suitcases or bags. This regulation ensures that both ultra -flat chopper and high -legged enduros have safe signal lighting. As with cars, additional reflectors are also required for motorcycles. These manufacture minimum visibility if the motorcycle should be unnoticed. These reflectors may be designed as a plastic cat eye or as reflective ligaments. The only regulation is that reflectors on the motorcycle must not have triangular shape.
Why convert a motorcycle rear light?
Motorcycles have a longer lifespan than cars. They are only moved as pronounced seasonal vehicles for a few months a year. This means that many bikes from the 1980s or even 1970s are still available today. However, their technology, especially that of the signal lighting, is very out of date today. A modern motorcycle taillight is an effective contribution to its traffic safety. In addition, due to the LED technology used by default, it is much more reliable for taillights.
